Outside

I feel the rays in your trees through to the bone

A welcoming benign spirit that turns nobody away

Always a friend to confide in on the worst of my days

A single place for all wanderers to call home

Never feeling helpless no matter where I roam

In the morning an ethereal cover lays

On a feather soft cradle before it runs away

Giving light to a landscape of polychrome

Light traverses across the canvas of your skies

Each day a masterpiece more beautiful than the last

From crepuscular rays to the deep shadows cast

As the sun goes to sleep and the moon starts to rise

And I fill up my lungs with a breath of fresh air

I lay waiting anxiously for what the next day will bear
