An Outsider

Often broken dreams follow a broken heart,

To watch everything you thought you wanted slowly fall apart.

All the awful comments you had to hear and endure,

Have pushed you to become demure,

Your parents seem to be somewhat happier,

Even though their demons have yet to disappear,

Acting like everything is okay whenever your siblings are somewhere near.

Being here has caused them problems,

Not being like the other commons,

You have always thought of your family as gems,

Your mother keeps drinking Collins,

You see her struggling to face her goblins.

You locked yourself away,

In your own little hideaway,

Your music was your only friend,

All your tragedies it just seemed to mend,

You slowly started to comprehend,

All your happy days were coming to an end.

You knew you had to get these feelings out,

Somewhere you could shout,

Without being to loud,

Like a library where speaking wasn't allowed,

Somewhere where you could be avowed.

You tried to write stories,

Some were about happy families,

Soon you found poetry,

Something you could do and feel free,

You were finally a bit lively.

You don't know where you would be going eventually,

If you hadn't fallen back on your best friend poetry.
