Over the Years
Over the years
Over time
I have faced many fears
Can I express my story in a rhyme?
It's so much to say
It's so much to tell
I try to get better everyday
Because one day my whole life fell
It fell hard and it's trying to get back up
I can say I did it all, yup!
Messed with boys, disrespected everyone
I didn't care what I did, I just wanted to have fun
I didn't listen to anyone, it was in one ear and out the other
I constantly got into fights with my father and my mother
Slowly my relationship with them began to break
They were asleep and I was still awake
I crept and snuck in the middle of the night
I knew it was wrong, but it felt so right
But one night, all of that ended
All of my freedom was suspended
I did something that no one could think of
I'm now at the bottom looking above
I ruined my life in one night, an early morning
At first I had a warning
But I didn't listen, I was a rebellious soul
I dug a deep and endless hole
Full of regrets and mistakes
I should have just pumped the brakes
But I didn't listen to my conscience
For me, getting in trouble was constant
Trouble always seemed to find me wherever I went
If only I would have saw what my life really meant
But it's way too late now, it's been a while
I'm slowly regaining my smile
I'm steadily picking myself back up to standards
I'm working on my manners
Everyday I try to get better for others and myself
Even though it's better to do better for yourself
People will judge me until the day I die
I'm starting not to care, it doesn't make me cry
I may get upset, I may get mad
But at the end of the day, I'm still glad
Because people will try to put you down
They will try to make you frown
That myself, I know about
But I no longer scream and shout
Because life goes on
I'm just lucky to wake up and see dawn
My life is only getting better when I do for myself
So here are my wrongs, now I'm putting them on a shelf
