Overcoming My Fear

I look into its eyes everday

Making me want to walk away

My peers seem fine so why don't I

It might be easier if I just lie

I shouldn't allow this to control my life

All it does is fill me with strife

There is no measure that I can take

Or special rules for my own sake

Although I can not stop these kids

For thinking things that I forbid

I walk into school like nothing is wrong

Even though I feel like I don't belong

No matter what I do it crosses my mind

The things others say that are unkind

I got blessed with great friends

whose measure never ends

I put on a smile

And make it worth my while

Surrounding myself with love and care

Knowing they don't judge me by what I wear
