Overcoming Today

I stand at the edge of a cliff and I see nothing and no one I am holding the pieces of my life in the palms of my hand trying despretly to put myself back together again But it is difficult The more I break the harder it gets I can only hold on to so much and I start to lose myself to the wind and to the sea below me until I am just a shell of the person I once was In this world I am the only thing I have What happens when I loose myself Who will I become once everything that makes me... well me is gone As the last piece of myself is claimed by the sea I fall to my knees I have no one and nothing The people who chip away at my existance see me as nothing more than a useless weakling Suddenly the water at the bottom of this cliff looks inviting But I resist the urge to jump The urge to fall into the dark abyss that calls to me I will overcome the fear of tomorrow I stand taller and prouder than ever before, because I will prove to everyone that I am stronger than they make me out to be I will rise for I am smarter than everyone makes me out to be I will win this war called life and I will rebuild myself I WILL be happy
