Overgrowth

Life is the basal in which we share
Developing as any plant would; straight from the stem.
It is our choice to have the care
To grow up in the light or digress in the darkness.

Depart from conventions that squander progression
Rather than attest for what you care less.
Don’t just appear rakish, be more than looks,
Not all for show, but know what to show for.

Be vibrant as a garden can be, seek out purpose
Spread like wildfire, but leave no ashes.
Leave behind your shine, continue the legacy,
Share the common concern that comes with life.

A big influence when it came to reading, first and foremost, came from Dr. Seuss. It wasn't until I discovered Ray Bradbury and his staple novel Fahrenheit 451, that I began to appreciate the things I read, and soon enough, wrote about. As far as poetry goes, it's a medium/format I can't get used to! It's diverse, it's condensed but brimming and even overflowing, which is all the more reason to love it. Literature is at its heartstrings open to interpretation, even though its original intent by the author may be accepted as its true form, that shouldn't stop us from thinking about a piece of work in a different light. Thanks for stopping by and happy reading and writing!
