Overprepared (free verse)

The apocalypse is coming.

So she would say.

“Bring water in your bag today”

I’d scoff but oblige.

How it would light up her eyes.

Believing it helped me live another day.

“I told you so” I could hear her say

Here in my cave

The blinding light that turned the sky gray.

I thank her for being over prepared today.
