the overview
Everyday WE prayed
Hoping for better days
singing the good ol' hymns
Praying for the Good Lord to show us the way
The way to be free from oppression
To no longer feel rejected,
from society that is
We want better for our kids
No more black or white
Just success with the dreadful past in hindsight
It took imprisonment, injury and blood.
Yet some of us walk around like we're modern-day thugs
What makes you a "thug" is fighting for your people
Respect gained from marching to prove that WE are equal
With each step history and progress is made.
