Ox in the Field

Plowing horns

Mend the dirt

As silver hooves

Carve the Earth

They're working hard

But what for?

These great big bodies

Staring deep inside the Earth

Snorting sounds as they go by

Exhaling the muck from their lung

Flicking the flies away

With those wide ears of theirs

As they wander the fields night and day

Do you think they pause a moment?

Or sit solemly as they watch the clouds pass?

Do you think they know what they search?

Or should we be the ones digging the dirt?

Strange and stranger

As they contuine on

Day and day later.
