Packaged Bliss

I'm angry that we're blind and don't even know it, and some don't even care.

Convenience is more than water and air

The product doesn't show it, the label doesn't share

They say ignorance is bliss, but

it just isn't fair.

Blood.

It's all over the chocolate, the shoes,

The coffee, bananas, but never the news

For we're in too much debt to give

what it takes

To bring helpless people out of the waste.

We want to be cheap--

well they must feel cheap

Traded and cheated and left in the heaps

Led by what we call slave drivers and creeps

but is it really their fault?

We're the ones who donate and cry,

"Justice! Freedom! Let hate die!"

All the while what we buy

Is built on nothing more than a fountain of lies.
