Padre

I will remember that,

you left

to self-indulge

and for a moment,

forgot the mother and child at home.

But alas, Karma is a tricky woman.

And you were given a girl with quiet power,

one that sits

in the middle of a field filled with

california poppies.

A girl that can raise hell.

One that can kill a man

with her soft eyes

or her sharp tongue.

Karma gave you

the exact girl that you were afraid

the mother at home

would turn out to be.
