Pain

I feel I am breaking; endlessly shattering Shatter crack break The sound is crystalline Sharp, silver and blue Like a black and white photo It steals my breath Like the cold of winter’s first frost A fist, sharp and hard and tight Squeeze cry crack There’s so much rage Hot, white, flame bright Like the stars of midnight But rage is only a mask A veil to hide the grief A sorrow so big it swallows me whole It tastes salty as tears, or the sea And it feels just as deep I’m breaking… I’m drowning I’m dying inside Why is it so quiet? Chaos all around me But utter stillness within The eye of a hurricane An island at sea Help me…
