Pain

Dear Destiny,

I see the pain in your eyes

as you hide behind your smile

 recounting all the times

you'd lie in your bed and just cry

all the times your mother lied

promising you the world

but having nothing to offer

all hope had been abandoned

your father was nowhere to be found

as you looked around

yearning for a love

you'd never been given

you searched for it elsewhere

but instead you lost yourself

although it took you a while

 here you stand

strong as ever

smiling from ear to ear

you look ahead & see the bigger picture

you look towards the real prize

living your best life

living in your truth

no more pain.
