Reading and writing poetry speaks to the soul, 

Sometimes you have to fall before you reach your goal.

I would often question myself and ask who am I?

Why am I doing this? Is it worth a try?

I am the only young male in my immediate family,

It warms my heart to know how much poetry has empowered me.

From hot and sleepless nights to dreadful days, 

I knew that my issues would not last always.

I would write whenever something jumped to my knowledge,

I never knew where I was going but I knew eventually I would find it.

Poetry illustrated methods on how to channel each feeling,

You have to love yourself because your life has a meaning. 

I never understood how important poetry was,

Until I started doing it to see if it helps and it does.

I have a poem written to save lives but I can not do it alone,

I’m thankful for poetry because it has taught me how to stand on my own.
