Pain

You feel like you're going to die

With pain so intense, you want to cry!

It's hard to describe...

Makes you want to imbibe, lots of liquor,

To make the pain go away quicker!

I've been in pain, as long as I can remember.

From January through December,

for at least 30 years...

You'd think I'd cried thousands of tears, but I didn't.

It's easier to keep them hidden,

and I can't see myself bedridden.

What good does it do to complain?

All that does, is hurt my brain.

And become the absolute bane of my existence.

When all you want to do is outdistance, the truth.

Does it stem from something in my youth?

Of course, it does, but why?!

Because I was a tomboy and could outplay any guy!

I wanted to be a guy, at least I tried...

Then I realized I wasn't one, but some of my issues had

already begun.

I picked up heavy things that I shouldn't,

Tried to play hardcore sports, that I couldn't.

I thought I was stronger than I really was,

Which is now probably the main cause...of my pain.

And, of course I did it over, and over again.

Never learning the first time,

Until I was in my prime... then finally,

when time got away from me,

It started in my back, then went down to my knee.

So much for learning how to ski!

But, through lots of pain and laughter, I made it.

I just learned not to quit. As painful as it would get...

You see, pain comes to us in many ways.

Emotionally when our hair turns gray, that's a pain,

because you feel like time is passing you by.

Physical pain can come from getting a black eye,

Running into something, or getting punched...

Or an upset stomach from a crappy lunch.

When you get a headache, you scrunch your eyes,

Your feet hurt from the wrong shoe size.

What about your feelings when you get chastised?

Or just crying when your baby cries?

Pain stays too, whether you like it or not.

Some people suggest smoking a little pot.

We can't do that yet, because it's still illegal,

You can't strut around looking all regal...yet.

Pain shows!

When you have a cold and must blow your nose!

Or when you ruin your expensive panty hose.

Or, heaven forbid, frostbite in your toes?!

For me, that would be the way it goes!

What about banging your elbows?

Damn sure doesn't make you laugh too much...

In fact, just don't touch right now, it hurts so much.

Then you get a damn bruise.

So, any way you choose...

You're singing the blues.

Take care. Hey! Look out for that chair!!

Man, I knew you were going to take a spill...

Hang on, I'll grab you a pain pill.
