Pain

Is pain that which leaks from your wounds,

or is it your heart's grieving tunes

Is it the tears that fall off your cheek,

or is it that which you have left, but your soul still seeks

Is pain our sixth sense

Renders us hopeless, stiff, and tense

Or is it our body's silent shouts

that form ink into words, and those words on paper

Pain, a poem, a flag, a nation

a quilt of tales, fever's quiet conversation
