Pain of a broken heart

I tore my heart open, I gave you my soul, I told you I needed you, But your self was your goal.
So I sit in the dark, A knife in my hand, I cut and I bleed, Then I just stand.
I felt no release, Of the darkness inside, All the tears have fallen, All the tears I have cried.
I have nothing left inside, So I'll build myself again, I can't rely on him, The truth is I shouldn't have let him in.
Each day is a step, Towards the goal in my sight, I'm striving for happiness, With all of my might.
I put the knife away, Never again will I feel its blade, I shouldn't wear my pain, The scars I shouldn't have made.
He's not worth my heart, Not my life or my pride, The numbness is leaving, I will again feel something inside.
