The pain is finally gone.

It's cold out, a freezing winter day. I hug my legs as I try to stay warm. "Go away snow!", I think, "Leave me be!" Then the pain hits again. My stomach growls as I groan, the hunger is back. When was the last time I ate? 14 days? No. 18? No. Oh, what's the use, I've lost track. I close my eyes and bring back the memories of the house. The warm and cozy house with the table filled with food. Oh, how I ate that day! I smile as I feel the warmth of the house, As the food fills my nose with its delicious smells. But, alas, it does not last. An ice cold wind blows, taking my joy. I frown and open my eyes to the sky. Did I do something wrong? I try to think back,, but the hunger is overwhelming. "PLEASE!", I plead, " Help me! What did I do wrong? Haven't I suffered enough?" Not getting any answer, I lay down and begin to cry. Growing colder as time passes I close my eyes. Then I hear a voice call my name "Mama?" I look up and there she is, holding her hand out to me. "Darling, you did nothing wrong. You stayed strong." I feel warmer and stronger as I take her hand Following her to the mysterious door at the end of the bridge. I look back, really quick, to see, and I see a black lump lying on the ground. "Who is that?", I ask my mother. "Why, that is you." I take in a breath as I understand And without looking back, we walk through the door, I see the wonderful feast laid out On the table of the warm and cozy house I will be hungry no more.
