Pain Has No Friends

Pain has no friends

She is mean and ugly

But cannot change what she is.

It's true, everyone hates her

If most had the choice they'd ignore her;

She would never be felt.

But that's the thing--

She needs attention

Like the rest of us do.

Pain is lonely

Pain is lonely

Pain is lonely.

So I decided once to stop fighting her

And accept her as she is

Because she and I have loneliness in common.

Yes, it does hurt

But I choose her anyway

Because it is not her fault that she hurts.

Pain has no friends except for me

She is mean and ugly

And I love her still
