The Pain of the Limelight

You walk down the catwalk of misconceptions. A stride so smooth, like the wild feline herself. Lights, Camera, Action---- With each step you dive deeper into a web of lies. Fluorescents shine with a fake brightness To cover an undeniable darkness. A cheering audience welcomes the art behind fashion, The pain of perfection, And the trickery of a two-faced industry. She walks semi-exposed, Running away from a truth tugging at her hemline. A truth that threatens to eat her alive As she rejects the nourishment of life. Her body: only skin and bones. The spine protrudes, the rib cage juts out, A reflection screaming for salvation. Evidence concealed By one word Perfection.
