Paint Me

I know this God exists. I know that growing up is neither easy nor painless: Searching for ourselves, Finding our true friends, Learning, hurting, dealing, hating, loving, finding And letting go. I know that beauty has no definition. And the face in the mirror will fade. I want to believe that the good outweighs the evil in this wounded world. I believe in wisdom, love, and hope and pray that they endure. I think that nations will fall. Famous people will pass, But an idea will never die. We need food for the soul, As much as we need for the body. We need music to sing through our blood And words to light up our lives. I know that when I stop looking for love Is when I'll find it. I know Jesus lives. I know that words, music, and color Can paint other worlds And add crisp clean color To our little corner of the globe. Paint me Wishful. Paint me a Dreamer. Paint me Abbey. I'm a writer.
