Painted Canvases

Dear Django,

There are few words to describe my boundless love and admiration for you.

You’re unwavering ideals

Songs from World War II

Canvases, every inch covered with paint

That’s how I want to live my life, covering my canvas with so many colors that there isn’t an atom of space left

Thank you for sitting with me at the kids’ table, eating my pasta with cheese while the adults ate icky vegetables

Treating me with the same respect that you treat your peers, honoring and listening to my little voice

Thank you for letting me take your glasses off of your blue eyes even though I always poked your face in the process

Thank you for taking me to the book store every week, radically opening my mind

For letting me put as many toppings on my ice cream as I wanted

For giving me challenging books to read and intricate scenes to paint

For abolishing the limits put in front of me
