Painter of Life

Pictures of oppression all snapped in my head

My people ain't just dyin'

Because hope is dead

Flustering anger forced with fear

Set aside to monument our pride

Today there's a new breed here

Reckless, ruthless, nothing to lose

Thinking there is only one path to choose

I don't fight with them but I know the don'ts and do's

The picture I want to paint is one unabused

A picture so vibrant, with our fists in the air

One to show my people, it's okay to care

It's okay to think and live beyond the neighborhood

Of course, to ignorance, your aspirations aren't understood

But know you're the painter

Paint the life you should
