A PAINTING
She paints her sorrow, she paints her story
She paints her anger when she can't paint her glory
She paints her deeps, she paints her shallows
She paints her goodbyes when she can't paint her hellos
She paints her scars, a canvas her skin
She paints a fire to warm a lonely place within
She paints her humour, dark and twisted
She paints a past that never existed
She paints herself yet can't recognize the person she sees
She paints her crying her tears to seas
She's deafened and blinded by the whispers in her head
"Unwanted", "unloved", "ugly"..words cutting and red
She paints a girl who knows not instagram, filters or selfies
So she paints hugs that embrace her artsy
She deeps the brush into colours of social validation and paints the world of what it craves
Then she paints another world, a happy stone age era in caves
She paints her wavering emotions, a landscape beneath a sunset
She paints her permanence in acrylics yet her mind escapes
She paints the sun and the moon together, it's almost eclipse
She paints shades of blue, strokes of white covered in red, a magnificent glimpse
She paints her dreams caught in a spider's web
She paints her expectations higher only to watch them dwindle and ebb
She paints faces shocked, surprised, shamed..with only themselves to blame
For She paints her thoughts abstract and let's the world interpret them
