A Pair of Eyes

Every time I look at you, I see our future.

Our first date,

Our first kiss,

Our first fight,

Our first I love you;

I see all of our firsts and all the world has to offer.

Our Wedding,

Our Children,

Our Grandchildren;

All of the beauty hidden between your eyes,

And mine.

Every time I look into your eyes, I feel at home,

And every time our eyes meet, I fall more and more in love with you.

But all you see when our eyes meet

Is no more than just a pair of eyes.

No first date,

First kiss,

Or first I love you.

All you see when you stare back at me,

Is the eyes of a girl;

A girl whose eyes beg you to gaze deeply into them,

To see every secret she’s ever kept, every lie she’s ever told,

Everything she wants for your future.

I try to tell you, every time we stare into each-other’s eyes,

That you belong to me, with me,

And that all these other girls who catch your eye,

Will always leave you high and dry.

But you still remain blind,

And when you look into my eyes,

You don’t see no beauty or possibility,

Laughter or humility.

All you see is no more than just a pair of eyes.
