Pair of Shoes
There's nothing like a pair of running shoes
You don't need 5 others and a basketball
Or a playstation and a tv
All you need are the shoes
Miles of open road to yourself
Just the sun and clouds as your companion
Running like a runaway you don't look back
Although painful you keep pushing
You’ve reached the halfway point
It's time to turn back and face what you’ve been running from
But there was nothing there but the sound of the shoes
You realize how far you’ve come and how much there is to go
That sound still follows you so you pick up the pace
Your breathing becomes heavy and so do your feet
But the shoes keep you light
You keep running and suddenly you’re home
You’re steaming, panting, and hunched over
Your brain feels a rush of dopamine
You look at the shoes and realize
That all you needed was to runaway
