The Pale Horse

Anthracite bloodshot orbs stare into the horizon

Bulging from shock? Fear? Relief…

For the pale horse is merely a friend that was once forgotten.

Its presence as suffocating as it is freeing.

Yet a thick cloak of sorrow covers the heart.

Perhaps it is finally time to depart.

Yet how does one ignore the idea of fleeing?

Panic ensues,

It must be booze,

It must be the lack of glasses around her eyes,

Yes! Eyes! it must be thee eyes telling her lies.

No! I scream, what answer is denial?

It seems it is finally time for my trial.

I step into the balcony with haste.

Below, the pale horse awaits.

What was once sorrow ,replaced.

‘’Freedom, freedom, freedom’’ the wind whispers as I reunite with my old friend,

The pale horse.
