"Palestine Angel"

‘The world has let us down’,

A Palestinian says.

Felt sad after hearing this.

For I am the world;

And the world is me.

It’s no-one from outside,

But the dwellers of Earth!

‘I can’t change the world’

But I can remember you,

And your suffering.

I can mourn for you,

Cry for you.

You are not forgotten.

Rather,

A flower pressed in a book

Dead, yet made eternally alive.

‘I may not halt my daily life’,

But I can weave you into it.

Into my joys,

That you deserve more.

My grievances,

That are nothing in front of yours.

My prayers,

So they reach to you.

I want to step out for you,

Even if nothing changes.

So that when I face you,

I can say:

‘I played my part’

I have changed so much,

Ever since it all started.

Realized and was terrified,

That I turned thick-skinned.

Want that back

‘The light in my heart’

It should keep burning.

So that it can feel,

And I can stay a human.

I am not half a person.

Nor is anyone else a hundred,

or a thousand!

I stand equal to every soul,

On this planet.

So why shouldn’t I?

Be able to change the world?

It’s not just a test for you,

As you are a test for humanity too.

And you are going,

Flying to heaven!

You angel!

While we stay

in this hell of a world,

Of demons!

The same world,

‘The world that has let you down’.
