Palm Desert

You said you were moving and that you needed a change

You had to get away from all of the people that caused you pain

You can change your location but that won't matter if you don't change your thinking

If you seek out the same type of people, your old mistakes, you will be repeating

You are seeking a new life out in Palm Desert

Because there are just too many bad memories here of when you have been hurt

I will miss you but I wish you well out there

I know at the very least about me that you always cared

Palm Desert took you away from me but it also finally set me free 

Now I no longer have this albratross around my neck

On experiencing the highs and lows of when I would see you next

I don't know what it was but you had some kind of power over me

When I was under your spell, it wasn't always the best place to be

I now have the chance to find happiness with someone else

Your shadow that was cast over me was putting me through hell

The highs and lows, I experienced with you were just too much to bare

Even though you were coming from a good place and that you really cared

Palm Desert took you away from me but it also finally set me free

Wishing you best of luck was the right thing to do  

I had to at least thank you and say goodbye to you

But I must admit that when I heard you were leaving, I was relieved

There was no way I was getting over you and from you I needed to be set free

Now I must leave you and the memory of you in the past

I should never seek you out or hope that one day you will come back

The chapter of our time together has now come to a close

Palm Desert is now the place that you will call home 

Palm Desert took you away from me but it also finally set me free
