Panic

My chest rises and falls as my breath remains heavy.

Something in me is dying to scream.

I pull my fingers and squeeze with desperation,

For something to distract my mind from the unknown.

I’ve lost all control and it feels unnerving.

I’m entering the real-world blind for what feels like the first time in my life.

My mind wanders down the dark paths retracing my train of thought.

With every loop through the same destination,

My anxiety reignites the panic engine.
