Papa Velez

You’d be the smartest old man

Your brain would never be

As big as your heart

I have always thought

You are a hero

Those kinds of people

Always exist in comics

So I thought

Your arms were raised high

To the sky

With them, you brought

Up my hopes

Your glasses helped you see

Clearly you didn’t need them to notice

How successful I’d be

I hope to make you proud

To the point you dance like papa

I once had a broken wing

But you taught me to fly

I don’t think

There's anything I can say

Nothing I do can

Ever repay you

Just know that

You are my inspiration

You always had a bright smile

The light you radiated my path
