Paper

Forced open and
Torn like paper
This sheet had words
On it
Meaning
Unread
Never to be known

People come along
With rolls of tape
And glue sticks
But this is a project
That no one can
Finish but
Me

No adhesive will
Heal the wounds
Because though they
Claim to be tears in paper
They are far deeper
Than flimsy, thin
Replaceable traces of
Nature

Though what am I but
The paper that was
Torn
Because I couldn’t stop
Him and I was
Not special to him
Knowing he will tear
More paper
And that I am
Replaceable
Leaves me wondering
Who will be his
Next piece of

Paper.
