Paper is the Confidant
As tears roll down,
Paper greets the ink.
Slowly comes to a stop.
Ink turns into words.
Gets wiped away,
Like something unwanted.
Words turn into something more,
Something unexpected.
It’s hard to tell really;
Where the pain ends,
When eyes become dry,
Where the lesson starts,
When hope holds your hand again.
As tears become ink,
As the pain creeps again,
The memories won’t go away.
They choose to stay.
Stain our life,
Our heart, our mind.
Each moment shaping,
Who we are to become.
Trying to look pass it.
The sun will soon rise;
The light will touch our skin;
Rainbows will follow the storm;
The silence won’t have stopped cries.
Someday we will return to who we were.
Someday we will believe in life again.
Grown to feel home in darkness.
To smile at the moon.
To dance in the rain.
To push forward,
With pounds and chains.
Truth is;
There is no going back,
No reverse button.
No erasing the memories,
The scares, mistakes, and regret.
Life goes on,
With or without us.
The ones that scarred us,
The ones we scarred,
We all carry chains.
Make us stronger,
Bring us down,
Slow us down.
As tears turn into ink,
As chains push us down,
Paper becomes the confidant.
Knowing;
The reason why these chains
Wrap around us.
Why we can no longer be who we were once.
Why our cheeks turn into waterfalls.
Why the blades called out.
Paper becomes the confidant.
As tears roll down,
Paper greets the ink.
Slowly comes to a stop,
Ink turns into words.
Gets wiped away,
Like something unwanted.
Words turn into something more;
Something unexpected.
Lessons and hope;
Forgiveness and strength.
Turns into one more inhale,
One more step.
