Paper, Pen & Passion

A lost opportunity, a lost sense of self

But what was self, where was she, and what was home

With a pen and paper she possessed true wealth

Gracing the tip to a blank page, a fruitful caterpillar, she wasn’t alone

In a world, so big, so small, thoughts could not be spoken, nor kept inside

Write it all down they said, you will find the one

Reluctantly and with every tear stained page, she complied

Words jumped off the page, thoughts speaking back, feeling brighter than the sun

“Life is worth living she thought,” with a newfound respect

Poetry imparts the words of life than cannot always be spoken

And through the highs and the lows writing just had some effect

A love for words, the appreciation of lyrics, was immortally unbroken

So again with a pen and paper, with a new struggle in life she spoke again

A glimmer in her eye, and a shaking hand, such words were meant to be spoken

A lift of her hand, bumps all over her body, the words hit the page, a verbal “amen”

Thank you- lost opportunity, sense of self, for blessed I am, with thrilling passion
