Paradise
We all have searched for you
Looking up high and down low
Tropical islands,
New countries,
Anywhere away from our regular lives.
But you have been sitting right in front of us
Day after day
Patiently waiting
Like a marble statue
Waiting for us to come to our senses.
I’m sorry on behalf of all of us
For ignoring your presence
For not seeing your flashing signs
Because we all are looking for something more
EXCITING.
Paradise you aren’t somewhere far
You are right there with us in our daily lives.
In the small moments
That shake us out of our routine
Maybe it’s the view from our bedroom window,
The coffee shop with a warm drink on a winter day,
A piece of juicy watermelon at the neighborhood pool,
That song that you love randomly playing on the radio,
A hug from mom
Or a smile from a little kid we don’t know.
Paradise isn’t a place.
It’s a feeling
A feeling that we feel most every day
And choose to forget.
Don’t forget.
Open your eyes and you will find paradise
Right inside of YOU.
