Paradoxical Thoughts

Cacophonous noises fill the air

And yet everything is so quiet

Everything so calm and serene

Yet my mind has no care

Like tumultuous waves or swirling storms

They twist this way and that

Never for a moment breaking the tides

With no boundaries there are no forms

Why can't they cease, why can't they be

Just for a second just for a moment

I plead I bargain to no avail

They taunt, they just won't let me be

Who said life was easy or fair, they chime

No rest for the wicked, not one bit

Way to go, what a cliche

But then I'm left to ponder, is this all a mime

Like riding a carousel they twirl

All thoughts become mundane

Leaving nothing to pass

Like a kaleidoscope swirl
