Parallel Ignorance

We sit upon our thrones of gold Worrying ourselves with petty things. Others sit on their stools of old Wishing only for wooden rings. We loathe and envy all those sent To rule over us as kings, As those who starve are content When a song bird sings. We dance in our materialism And wallow in our glory, As others who are prone to realism All exceed us morally. We all look towards the same sky, And this is what I've found. The way it looks in my eyes Is that fortunes need be turned around. These poor unfortunate souls Are so much better than us. They have the right to burn us with coals Over all our unnecissary fuss. But here we are side by side Ignoring all the problems, When I believe we need a guide To tell us how to solve them.
