Paranoia

a light struggles, it flickers and extinguishes. a match is lit and the cycle continues. shadows play across the wall shapes exaggerated. chairs are no longer furniture and the end table is mocking me. a glance over the shoulder nothing. a glance out the window ghosts play in the dark. silence becomes deafening not even the cicadas are out tonight. Solitude is suffocating and someone is watching me.
