Parenthood

I cannot wait to be a parent

To raise a child

Mold them into the person that they are meant to become.

Be able to see one day they need me to do everything

Then in a blink of an eye no longer needing me for anything

They will still come back though

My child will love me forever

They will understand that what I did was hard and raising a child is not

Something that comes with a book

I did what I thought was right

And in the end I will make sure that they have everything they need and more

My child will be raised a strong human

With values and beliefs that they create on their own from my teachings

My child will not be put into a box and told what they are meant to become

I will make sure that they are able to do

Whatever it is that they set their heart to

My child,

My beautiful child will be so intelligent

They will be able to dance quadratic equations around me

And I will shout and praise them for their excellence.

This child will be brought up to love all things

Even those things that attempt to hurt us

They will know that those are simply misguided and don’t have the love in their hearts

So it will be up to my child that after I am gone they continue to spread the love

To everyone

As I did for my child.

This child will be the luckiest in the land

This is something that I will promise my child

From the first time I hold them.

Every night I will tell them they are my world

And that they can accomplish things bigger then themselves.

They will be told a story every night while they sleep

So that they can dream bigger and bigger than I ever could.

However I might never meet my child

This child may forever be those part of those bed time stories that I tell myself.

Because I want my child to be raised by two men

Myself and the man of my dreams.

And due to the fact that I love a human of the same sex,

I am looked at as unfit to raise a child.

Because apparently the person that I want to spend my life with effects my ability

To raise a child.

In Florida it is out right banned to be openly gay and adopt.

And in Mississippi it is allowed for a single person to adopt but not a same sex couple.

For it is looked at that one father can do better than two

And well I didn’t have a father so I think my child would be lucky to say

That not only does he have two fathers

And also neither of them will ever walk out on them

My child would be the most loved thing on this earth.

My husband and I would make sure of it

And yes, my child may be looked at as different for not having a mommy,

But they will raise their head and embrace their difference

For my husband and I will teach them that your difference are what you magical

So yes, my child will be raised to be a healthy happy adult

To grow and prosper as they will.

To be strong and level headed.

And knowing that I fought to be their parent, and that hopefully

They see me fit to honor the title of dad.

Because anyone can be a parent

I want to be that special person to a

Dad,

I cannot wait to a dad.
