Parenting my parents

You know...

I love them.

Truly, I do!

I just don’t

love them / enable them

enough

to stick around any longer

to make believe in their dream house

dollhouse

to paint meadows on walls for us to skip in

pretending they are hallucinatory murals

...like they're my own delusions

easily mistaken for fantasies

of what was supposed to be

but never was.

What never could be.

Kids don't raise parents.

Kids can't raise parents.

Kids are not supposed to parent parents.

Was I ever a kid, then?

I love them.

All of it. All of this. All of them.

Them two. Them three. Them and me.

Just not enough.

Never enough.

I've had enough.
