Pariah
It's unacceptable,
In the hardest way.
Like breathing in water,
Like drinking life away.
Destroying your mind
Like termites on wood.
Eating at your stomach,
Hatching a brood.
It's unacceptable,
Like hiccups in prayer.
A missed amen
becomes your worst nightmare.
It's unlivable,
Like sleeping on the sun.
A pain so great,
Survival is, "run."
It's unbelievable:
A human connection.
Misbegotten hope,
Brain insurrection.
