A Part of Me

When I open my mouth

Words are born

When I open my eyes

Colors flood my sight

When I take a breath

My lungs contract

When I write

There is poetry

When everything is changing

A line is formed

When my brain is turned off

I find my muse

When plans start to crumble

My thoughts run free

When I look for a refuge

There is poetry

When I go to sleep

My demons start to wake

When I open my eyes

Stress hangs over me

When I open my mind

A battle is begun

When I finally rest

There is poetry
