Part-time Christians

There have been days when my prayers didn't seem so close to heaven and days

when people questioned my faith and the name Christianity foreign to them, but

I've seen people play on both sides of the fence

I have seen Jesus' name forsaken in the mouths of his son's and daughters as if there is

a ticking time bomb strapped to his back,

I wonder if the empty parts of him is enough evidence to prove he loves you and that

when he loves, he loves with the holes in him,

That his love runs deeper than the 9 inch nails, creating craters deep enough to stand

in after you've sinned

The truth is you claim him on Sunday and avoid him the rest of the week as if he's

"Big Brother," with a swastika engraved in his chest

You denied him and I'm sorry, but we don't take blood money here and I'm

sorry that you didn't feel his presence, and that sucks

especially after you tried so hard to make it look real

Was that fun?

Whispering his name like it was secret

Mocking him like he was the center of a good joke

There are no exceptions to the word and while you think you know you don't

God is particular, and doesn't like lukewarm Christians, so why do you think

you're the exception to the rule?

How can you take God for granted like a good shoe sale?

Don't you know that he thought so much of you as to give his all, and where theives

before found trinkets and jewels and the diamonds your worth God found life in you

and that's worth far more than what those crooks took

So while you still have your life and the opportunity still stands

you have a second chance

Just promise to God you won't blow it, because his blood still saves and he will

love you far more than you could ever love him

So I pray that you will see a life of long years and know a heart that never fails
