Passing By

Dear Fran,

I was passing by your house today

when I thought of all the things to say

to you before you go.

You've always seen the best in me

even when I couldn't see

the things I subconsciously know.

Like how I think of morals

rather than start quarrels

with people who choose not to listen.

And how I constantly tear at my heart

even as my life falls apart

for the friends I've been graciously given.

If it weren't for you in my life

every day would be filled with strife

because of what I refuse to see.

But you keep my heart going

and I know I'll keep growing

to become who I want to be.

Therefore, I promise to thank you

for helping me pull through

when I can finally be me.

With love,

Katelin
