Passion

In the world today, the kids don't care,
We ignore our opportunities like nothing is there,
We walk around with an apathy I cannot stand to bear,

The teacher asks the kids "What is your plan?"
But the students ignore their future as hard as they can
And pretending what they lack is just an attention span

But I know that deep down, we are capable of more than this
We can do more than lie to ourselves, saying "ignorance is bliss"
Sitting by idling as we're dragged into life's abyss

What happened to our ambitions, our hopes, and our dreams?
What happened to the kids who were going to tear life apart at the seams?
The kids who wouldn't let the world dare to silence their screams?

I want a generation of optimists
I want doctors, teachers, and journalists
I want kids fighting to learn the reason why we exist

I want a world brimming with passion
I want students who are ready to take action
A world where we aren't scared to have a reaction

Because we need motivation in order to survive
We need desires for our futures to thrive
And without passion, we wouldn't be alive
