The Past
Living in a world where the past is meant to be forgotten,
How can I not forget the past?
But,
Do I want to?
Yes.
I’ve made mistakes that I wish to take back.
I have regrets in life too.
From lost friendships and lies to family,
To the little things like not cleaning the fish bowl.
There are opportunities I missed out on,
Opportunities I will never be able to experience even if I gave up everything.
I think back and remember all the pain I’ve brought myself to at this very moment.
Yet, here I sit.
Reminiscing the past, I think of what use to be.
Days were happier, days were just plain old better.
The sun shined brighter and I never remember being sad.
I remember the girls I once called my “best friends”,
We smiled and laughed so much my cheeks hurt just thinking about it.
Family was more important too, it actually meant something to me.
But now, it’s more of a dream,
It’s a dream I never want to wake up from.
Living in a world where the past is meant to be forgotten,
How can I not forget the past?
But,
Do I want to?
No.
