The Past
Unwelcome interruption
from an old friend
creeps in
deludes thought
with a subtle sadness
drip
drip
drip
the swelling
of feeling
push and pull
resist
still it lingers
ache for forgiveness
yearn for difference
try for another day
as you gently persuade the past
to remove it’s careless kiss
