Past Aspirations
I live in the past
the thing is though
it’s not my past
it’s the past of those who have come before me
it's the past of
leaders, politicians, trailblazers,
martyrs, policy-makers, activists.
celebrating what has been done
and ruminating on what could have been
And all I want
is to someday have
my past
held in the same esteem as
their past
