Past Midnight

She's never run so fast before

Almost tripping through the door

Half tempted to hide her face from everyone she passed

Realizing it wasn't practical to run in heels, she kicked them off

Still constantly propelling herself forward, goal in mind

She could hear shouts behind her, a voice from the party

But she

just

kept

running

Further away, the shouts began to fade

Checking the her phone, she could see it was almost one in the morning,

but wih her apartment in sight, she wasn't bothered

She had work early in the morning, and she knew she couldn't put a man over sleep

Once she was inside, she quickly wrapped the dress up for a return,

and closed her eyes, not even wondering what to do about the shoes, tags still in them
