Past, Present, Future

From time to time I catch your eye

As you walk past & I walk by

I think whether or not to say hi

Decide not as my mind screams “don’t cry”

You were my best friend from the start

We had each others back,

I loved you with all my soul and all my heart

But it’s that true love that you lack

I’m not sure where we went wrong

I guess it was bound to happen all along

What is now nonexistent was once so strong

I sit and reminisce over this sad sad song

From time to time I catch your eye

Knowing this is never hello, but always goodbye

Inspired by I Carry you with me by e.e. cummings.
